Another excerpt from The Curse of the Dragon King...
Land of Tourmalinite
Persephone knew when they had reached Tourmalinite because the day quickly turned to night. It was not only night but the skies were an inky black; there were no stars and no moon. It took a while for everyone to adjust to the blackness of the place.
Thankful for the fire dragon, who lit the way for them. The fire dragon stepped up to the front, let out a big breath of fire that ran along a path. It was like runway lights had lit the path. Persephone also noticed that everything here was black, including the rocks and trees and small little animals that were running around that she had no idea what they were. Taking a closer look, she noticed the rocks were tourmaline stones; hence the name of this place, Tourmalinite. Persephone thought this place could be worth millions in her world as the tourmaline stone was a rare stone that not only came in black but in many different colors. She wondered what other treasures rested in this realm of the dragons.
Waking was harder than expected because it was so dark, they didn’t know what to expect in this unknown land. Persephone heard noises in the trees above them. She looked up just in time to see something flying toward her. Raven quickly stepped in front, knocking Persephone off her feet and drew out his wand in time to send an electric shock to the creature that came at them. As the creature fell to the ground, dead, they got a closer look.
“Imps,” Raven said, “There must be more of them, and they usually travel in packs.”
Persephone took a closer look at the imp and noticed it was all black and it looked like a demon with horns except its size was as small as an adult cat.
Raven’s voice brought her attention back to him, “We don’t have to worry too much about the imps. The imp is a small lesser demon and they are more mischievous than they are evil and most of the time they are not harmful. We only have to worry about the pranks these imps might play on us. We’ll just have to keep on moving, the stone we’re looking for is supposed to be in the center of this place. If we come across another imp, we might be able to ask him if he knows of the fire opal.”
From the Curse of the Dragon King...
Could this be a water dragon that Raven spoke of? Was she about to see the legendary water dragon? No sooner had she collected these thoughts in her mind when without any warning, emerging from the churning waters came a great creature, shiny and bright as a deep blue sapphire. It was a creature at least fifty feet in length from nose to the tip of his tail. The underbelly was a creamy white and it had a wingspan of perhaps thirty feet. Its face was very serpentine with long, sharp teeth and horns protruding from the forehead. The eyes were bright and captivating, holding Persephone’s attention as if under some spell. She wondered if, like the legends of old, whether this creature could breathe fire. He darted toward shore and Raven got out of the way just in time. The dragon stood between Raven and Persephone and started to come at her. The dragon then stopped and stared at Persephone as if he knew her. Persephone then realized it was not her he looked at but the emerald that hung around her neck. This huge, powerful water dragon stood still in his tracks and then bowed his head down low before her.
The Phoenix is a bird so grand
Shades of colors red and gold
Watching over fabled lands
Legends wake from days of old
This sacred bird guards carefully
While dangers lurking everywhere
Ascending high and gracefully
Keeping watch from the air
Protecting all things divine
Full of magic and surprise
A deeper tale will soon unwind
You’ll see it in her wise old eyes
Fire sustains this bird of beauty
There’s never more than one alive
The ancient legend does foresee
The Phoenix will forever thrive
More information on the Curse of the Dragon King
In the beginning…
A thousand years ago in a land called Nowhere there was a Dragon King who ruled over the land and the creatures who lived there. The greatest creatures of all were the dragons. The dragons watched over the skies, the land, and the ocean.
In Nowhere there also lived wizards and shape-shifters that learned to live alongside the dragons. There were many other creatures who lived in Nowhere as well, but none as mighty as the dragon.
The Dragon King was the ruler of the elements of earth, air, fire, and water. Even though the wizards lived separately from the dragons it was said that one day there would be a greater being that would bring the two worlds together and they would live in peace with each other. Before that day could come an evil curse was placed upon the land that wiped out the light and brought complete darkness to Nowhere. In a parallel world there was the Demon World. The Demon World lay side by side with Nowhere but the two never collided until a gateway opened from the Demon World into Nowhere and it let in a terrible evil that no one could stop. What no one knew was that when that gateway opened, another opened from Nowhere into the mortal world. Secretly, a powerful wizard went through that portal and lived in the mortal world for several years. He ended up in a small town in the mid 1800’s just before the civil war. He made a life for himself with a woman he met and married, until there came a time that he knew he needed to go back to Nowhere.
Unbeknownst to this wizard living in the mortal world, was the daughter that was born of him and his mortal wife who will end up being the vital part in breaking Nowhere’s curse.
These three worlds will now come together and good and evil will battle to overcome this curse.
It will take a lot of strength and belief to bring light back to the world of Nowhere. They will have to learn to work together.
This is where their story begins.
